CMAT are delighted to announce the continued growth of their primary arm with the news that Downham Feoffees Primary are planned to become members of the CMAT family in September 2017.

This lovely village primary school which is in the catchment area of Ely College supports the trust’s desire to develop an all through approach to high quality education in the local areas in which the trust operates.

Stamford Welland Academy outperforms other local schools

Stamford Welland Academy is delighted to see themselves outperforming many other local schools in the final 2016 GCSE results, which were published today by the Department for Education.

This year, new measures Progress 8, Attainment 8 and the English Baccalaureate have replaced the former headline figure of the percentage of students gaining 5 A*-C grades including English and mathematics.

Ely College set to join CMAT in July 2016

Ely College is set to join Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT) following negotiations with DfE, the school’s current sponsor, CfBT Schools Trust (CST), and CMAT. The transfer of sponsorship is intended to take place this summer.

The planned transfer is the result of discussions with the Department for Education to secure local support for Ely College, with the aim of moving the school more quickly towards becoming ‘Good’ and beyond.

Stamford Welland Academy celebrates impressive increase in student progress

2015 GCSE Performance data has now been published and shows that Stamford Welland Academy holds a ‘Best 8 value added’ score of 1012.7, demonstrating that students of all abilities have made better progress than the national average.

This ‘value added’ score measures the progress which students have made throughout their secondary school education; comparing their level of ability at the end of Primary School to the results of their top 8 GCSE results, including English and Maths.

Leadership is transformed at Sawtry Village Academy

Sawtry Village Academy has now moved out of special measures after the latest inspection by the education standards organisation.

The school was graded as still requiring improvement by Ofsted, but it rated the effectiveness of leadership and management as good and personal development, behaviour and welfare were also good.

New academy and principal unveiled for Stamford

Stamford Welland Academy will replace the Stamford Queen Eleanor School as it joins Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT), and partners with one of the top performing schools in Cambridgeshire.

The new name and brand was developed in partnership with students and teachers, governors, the Free School proposer group, and the academy’s new leadership team.
