Principal, The Lantern Primary School
David trained to teach at the faculty of education, Cambridge University, qualifying in Key Stage 2 primary (general) and Key Stage 3 Maths. His first job was teaching at Littleport Community Primary school. After a few years, and interested in seeing how other school systems operated, he moved to Hardwick Middle School in Bury St Edmunds. Within a short time he found himself acting head of maths. It was during this period that David was put forward to join the Leading Practitioner scheme for maths.
David sought to relocate back to the Ely area and was pleased to accept a post at Lantern Community Primary School as a Year 5 teacher and Maths co-ordinator in January 2009. Here they supported his continued work as a leading Maths Practitioner and enabled him to support colleagues on local schools. After joining the senior leadership team in April 2014, he was asked to become Acting Deputy Head Teacher for September 2014 before being appointed permanently in June 2015.
Aspiring to Headship, David was awarded an NPQH in March 2018 and was appointed to be the new Principal at Lantern for September 2018.
