Leadership East Director
Julie started her career teaching English in a Norfolk secondary school, and following a move to Suffolk became interested in SEN provision in mainstream schools. After 12 years in this field, she became a deputy head and shortly afterwards a headteacher. As a new headteacher, she identified staff CPD as an effective tool to support change and improvement in her school and has remained committed to the importance of high quality professional development with planned and traceable impact.
Having been seconded on two occasions to lead particular projects on behalf of local authorities, Julie then worked as Director of an associate college in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University, delivering the MA in Education and was then appointed as regional lead for school leadership at Eastern Leadership Centre, with a particular emphasis on the national professional qualifications: NPQH, NPQSL and NPQML.
Transferring with Leadership East to CMAT in May 2016, Julie has led Leadership East’s successful application to deliver the reformed NPQ’s. She is a member of the governing body of two schools. She also supports a new teaching school alliance and is a Fellow of the RSA.
