Michael Horspole

Senior Trust Accountant

Michael has spent the last 17 years in senior finance roles in the charity sector. Initially as Regional Finance Manager for the British Red Cross Society covering the Eastern Region, then as Finance Director for Family Service Units (now part of FWA) and recently moved from YoungMinds a young person’s mental health charity.
In all these roles Michael has focussed on cost control and trying to ensure that the projects undertaken by the charity have had their full costs recovered by the funders. He has been a member of a number of steering groups involved in the roll-out of national projects and also worked with a small group from the Charity Finance Directors Group looking at the cost and efficiency of the finance function of charities.

Before working in the charity sector Michael held various roles in industry where he qualified as a Certified Accountant.

Michael is married with 3 teenage children. He runs a Scout Troop in Peterborough and is the Treasurer of his local church.
