Trustee & Chair of Stamford Welland Academy Academy Council
I am married with two grown up children and two grandchildren. I have a keen interest in sport, playing cricket, football and badminton and now a keen spectator of any sport. I enjoy gardening and DIY in my spare time
Apart from training and qualifying as a mining engineer I have spent the last 45 years in education as a teacher, headteacher, senior inspector for Lincolnshire, education consultant, Initial Teacher Training Tutor, National College for Teaching and Leadership Consultant and school governor for 32 years at 7 different schools.
Education has been my life and I continue to be interested in the future of all children as they move through the education system. For the past 10 years my main interest has been in developing my skills in school governance. I am looking forward to working with the headteacher, staff and students at Stamford Welland Academy.
As a member of the Proposer Group for Stamford Free School I am really pleased to now have the opportunity to put into place the vision of the proposer group to provide a new school and new approach to secondary education in Stamford. My knowledge and understanding of the education provision in Stamford has been enhanced by the time I spent as headteacher at St Gilberts.
As academy council chair at Stamford, I am in a very privileged position to support and challenge the Principal and staff to provide the best possible education for every child in Stamford as they move through secondary education, into sixth form, further and higher education or work.
